It all started when Texas Husky Rescue pulled a dog named Lauren from the shelter, and within two days of coming to her foster home, she had a litter of puppies. We called those puppies the Big Bang Theory Pack, after the TV show.

One of those puppies was Sheldon, the smartest and most active pup of the pack.

Sheldon grew up in a foster home playing with her brothers and sisters. As always goes when our rescue group has puppies, they adopted out quickly.

But for some reason, Sheldon wasn’t adopted out as he watched his mother and siblings find their forever homes.

So Sheldon ending up as a foster at my house living with my pack and stayed a foster dog for the first five years of his life. This wasn’t as bad as it sounds, because Sheldon and I went many places and had many adventures together. Here he is at the dog friendly patio at Cane Rosso in Deep Ellum, ordering a pizza.

We went to the doggie swim days at the water park. Sheldon loved the water. He used to sleep in my bedroom with my other two Siberian Huskies, Nubia and Cherokee and my Alaskan Malamute, Rocky. I remember waking up and finding them all sleeping in my bed.

Of course Texas Husky rescue did everything they could to help Sheldon find his forever home. They never give up on the dogs they rescue.

We even celebrated his birthday when it came around.

Finally, after five years, Sheldon found his forever home. After all that work, Texas Husky Rescue gave this dog, who was almost born in a shelter, his best life.
